HAST / PCT

Highly-Accelerated Temperature and Humidity Stress Test (HAST) / Pressure Cooker Test (PCT or called Unbiased Autoclave Test):

The Highly-Accelerated Temperature and Humidity Stress Test is performed for the purpose of evaluating the reliability of non-hermetic packaged solid state devices in humidity environments. It employs severe conditions of temperature, humidity, and bias which accelerate the penetration of moisture through the external protective material or along the interface between the external protective material and metallic conductors which pass through it.

The HAST is an effective tool for running the SIR (Surface Isolation Resistance) analysis where the subject the sample is typically setup with the following test conditions:

110 Deg.C / 85% RH / 5VDC / 100VDC for measurement under pressure
